Many of these residents are anxious to gain citizenship now that the country has a new beginning. In addition, many new immigrants are coming into the country to take advantage of job opportunities there to help rebuild the economy of the country. Many of them are likely to stay.

Provide the students with a situation such as the following:

Have the students predict the future of this country. Ask them to use what they know about the immigration policies of Germany and the United States and decide which process for gaining citizenship will form the basis for the immigration policy of this new country.

Use a panel discussion format for them to present their position and to defend that position with information from the articles as well as prior knowledge.
