Western Europe. Given its high population density, an important factor to consider is how the limited natural resources are allocated for use. Based on the data provided, have students analyze Transparency 29 “Land Use” and Transparency 30 “Product Map of Germany” and complete the chart on Worksheet 20 “Land Use Statistics”. Information will need to be computed using percentages from the graph. Also, use Teacher Resource 10 “Land Use in Germany” for your own information. Then, have students consult Transparency 31 “International Commerce” and discuss Germany’s major trading partners and the types of products that Germany distributes worldwide. Ask students to construct a data retrieval chart of the major trading partners, major imports and major exports of Germany.
